On Saturday, I took a very informal walking tour around the Garden District with a friend visiting from out of town.
I bicycle through this neighborhood all the time, but rarely walk the side streets on foot.
You can see why this neighborhood was dubbed the “Garden District” back in the 1800s. People put their homes on large lots with expansive lawns, in contrast to the homes and courtyards in the French Quarter that were hidden behind high brick walls.
Nice picture from the Garden District. I used your blog as an inspiration on my last trip to New Orleans (my son goes to Tulane) – thanks for sharing.

Keep up the great work.
Loved your entries, Bill! Thanks for sharing the link! 🙂
A great shot of a great home (mansion?), Carla. As always, I try to imagine what it would be like to live in the homes you share with us. –John
I know. I think you must have to have some staff if you live in a house like this! 🙂
